Issues and events are considered to be sub-matters within the software. A matter (parent) can have multiple issues/events that can be individually managed by different staff members, as required. Issues and events can be opened at any time, processed and closed while the parent matter is still open.

Issues and events use the exact same matter structure and configurability options (e.g. document sets, workflow, etc.) that were outlined in the matter profiling section. As a result, the standard matter inquiries and management reporting tools within the software can automatically identify and count these details separately to help provide more complete management information.

Typically, we use issues/events to record such occurrences as:

  • notices along with details of length of time to respond and outcome
  • breaches
  • referrals
  • lodgement of supplementary/subsequent reports
  • third party consultations

This component is a powerful tool to record any transactional activity that relates to the parent matter.
